Mike had a bi-coastal childhood, growing up in multiple cities within both New York and California, two major states with two completely different climates. It taught him a bunch about life and people.
As a young boy, while working on a farm in upstate New York, he realized that he possessed the gift of wit. This is partially due to his family and their habit of frequently relocating without his consent. Out of necessity, he learned that making others laugh was the best way to attain friends.
Mike can find funny in just about anything. At times, this can prove to be insightful and creative and yet other times, just plain ridiculous. He’s always trying to entertain — whenever he can and wherever he can. That’s just his inherent nature. Boredom can often times be the best inspiration. He’ll lighten the mood with a snappy rapport, or manipulate the situation and BANG! Out comes the funny. He just can’t help himself.
Mike has been performing stand-up comedy since 2001, with his very first performance in Los Angeles at the world famous Hollywood Improv in August of 2002. He is also a graduate of the Second City Los Angeles Conservatory Program and worked with Second City Alumnus Jay Leggett (In Living Color, Without a Paddle) and the Comedy Cocktail – Los Angeles’s longest-running sketch comedy showcase – from 2006-2009.
Mike has written and produced several successful original short films, including “LOST: MY CAR KEY!” which won the MySpace MyEmmy Contest in 2006 and was a selection, but NOT a nomination for a Broadband Emmy in 2007. So, so close! Mike also wrote and produced “TODAZE!,” a short film series about 2 struggling comedians in their 30’s who are stuck on the couch playing video games on a Sega Dreamcast. We are currently in production re-purposing that idea.
Mike is currently working on several projects with actor and comedian Bryan Callen (MADtv, Old School, Hangover). Bryan is a long-time friend who has been gracious enough to bring Mike out on the road, where they’ve performed comedy in clubs across the country. In September and October 2010, Mike performed in Sunnyvale, California, at Rooster T Feathers, in Louisville, Kentucky, at the world famous Improv and in Virginia Beach, at The Funny Bone.
