Sudden Death Standup

The Rebels of Comedy presents “SUDDEN DEATH STANDUP” at Smiles Nightclub in Sherman Oaks. This event incorporates standup comedy as well as audience participation.

• Comedians/Participants must pay $10 to play.
• There is an $10 show entrance fee for each audience member.
• Comics must arrive at 7pm sharp. The game starts promptly at 7:30pm.

Each comic will take the stage to perform a 6 minute set. It’s all about performance. After the first minute and if the comic is performing poorly, the audience is given the opportunity to bid to YANK them off the stage.

1. Audience members are directed to a buzzer, which they must press, while at the same time placing a minimum $2 bid into a bucket, in an effort to YANK the comic off the stage. Audience members can place as much money as they wish into the bucket to YANK a comic off the stage. Although, that amount will have to be matched in order to SAVE the comic, so they can continue.
2. Once the siren has been triggered, the audience will have 20 seconds to SAVE the comic by matching the amount place into the bucket by the audience member who has started the YANK process. Each bid must be match the previous bid in order to YANK or SAVE a comic. If no audience member SAVES the comic from Being YANKED after 20 second, the comic is asked to leave the stage.
3. If a comic is SAVED, the 6 minute clock will continue and the comic can proceed with their routine. The audience at anytime can match the previous bids and re-YANK the comic.

The comics that were not ultimately “YANKED” off the stage compete in a 3 minute Sudden Death Round. The audience will vote on the winner who receives a CASH prize of $100.
